Number plates can sometimes have different terminology. The links below will explain some of the terms used. Number plates and personalised registration numbers often get used interchangeably where in fact the registration number refers to the letters and the numbers used to uniquely identify the vehicle and the number plate is the actual perspex sheet that is screwed or stuck to the vehicle. However in reality people refer to personalised plates or DVLA number plates as being the unique identifier and as this is the service we have provided for over 30 years, we have also used the words interchangeably.
