Now in its fifth year, this show just gets better and better. Show tickets also get you access to the whole museum so it’s a great value day out. The show is held within the fort grounds on the Newhaven seafront, making it a spectacular setting. Enjoy the show, then explore the ramparts and hidden tunnels. Don’t forget to stop for lunch at the 1940s themed tea room too! Small yet somehow perfect This is a small show to be sure, with around 100 cars on display, yet the atmosphere is just amazing. It’s certainly a place to make new friends and everyone is so helpful and happy to share their stories, tips and advice. Classics United first ran the show in the fort four year ago, and it’s still going strong, run by the very able Jack Steedman. Each year brings more visitors and the event goes from strength to strength. You really feel part of something when you bring your classic or retro vehicle along. A strong club presence is also guaranteed. Pre-booking now sold out Pre-booking has sold out for this year but you can still get your tickets on the door. The event is held on Sunday October 6th and tickets are available on the gate between 10am and 11am. The Fort and Beyond If you’re planning on visiting Classics United, you could stay a little longer and explore Newhaven itself. There are two marinas to visit, a wealth of unique shops, restaurants and bars and you can even take a ferry over to Dieppe. Imagine posting on Facebook that you’re having dinner in France! The ferry crosses three times a day, so it’s easy to nip over for a day trip or an overnight break. With attractions such as the Planet Earth Museum and Dinosaur Safari, it’s a great family friendly destination for a mini-break, and one that’s often overlooked. At this time of year you’ll avoid the crowds too, perfect for long walks along the beach. Football fans can hop on a direct train to the Brighton and Hove Albion Amex Stadium just 16 minutes away.
