F1 Returns after Summer Break for the Belgian Grand Prix

We’ve missed our Grand Prix fix with the three week break, but now it’s back with race number 13, the Belgian Grand Prix at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Sebastian Vettel won this race last year, and he’s the bookies second favourite to win this year, with just slightly lower odds than Lewis Hamilton. However, in the practice rounds, Vettel has performed incredibly well, with Hamilton lagging behind with throttle problems, so it’s going to be an exciting race on Sunday.

This is a thrilling circuit with lots of opportunities for overtaking, although some of them are pretty tight which makes for some real edge-of-your-seat viewing. The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps first played host to the Grand Prix back in 1950 but has been the setting for motor racing since 1925. It’s a 7,004 km circuit with 44 laps of 308.052 km. This is the longest F1 circuit. The lap record for the course was set last year by Valtteri Bottas with a time of 1.46.286. The constructor with the most wins here is Ferrari with 16, and Michael Schumacher is the driver with the most wins, with 6 victories at this circuit.

When to watch

Qualifying will be shown on Sky Sports F1 on Saturday 31^st August with coverage beginning at 1pm. The race the following day starts at 2:10pm with pre-race coverage beginning at 12:30pm.
