HomeMotoring UKThe Latest Update from the British Historic Rally Championship Jayne Henry July 29, 2019 Motoring UK, Registration Industry British Historic Rally Championship – Speedy Reg As you probably know, we sponsor rally driver Simon Webster and so we’re even more enthusiastic about the British Historic Rally Championship than ever before, and we like to keep you updated! This Sunday saw round five of the BHRC, the Harry Flatters Rally in the Epynt ranges of Wales and again it was incredibly exciting. This event was the first asphalt round after four gravel rounds and this change of surface always brings a challenge and often plenty of surprises and this was particularly thrilling, especially towards the end of the race, with the top four crews finishing within 11 seconds of each other! We’re especially proud that Simon Webster and his co-driver Jez Rogers were one of these top finishing teams – well done guys! Simon managed to gain 8 seconds on the final stage which was a fantastic accomplishment. Of course we’re a little biased in our support of Simon Webster but there was plenty of great driving out there making it really exciting viewing. Dave Price performed very well considering he has very little experience of asphalt, however a faulty gearbox held him back and Nick Elliot became the ultimate winner. It was great to see Elliot do so well after his 3 month break due to a wrist injury. There was a particularly nerve-wracking moment with a high-speed off involving Simon Webster that could have had some serious consequences. A post-race inspection of the car’s damage showed that they had been very lucky! With two rounds of the BHRC left to go, we’ll get back to you soon with another update so do look out for that.
