And They’re Off! It’s Grand National Day!

It’s the most famous day of the racing calendar, the day when suddenly everyone is into horse racing, placing their bets or taking part in the office sweepstakes. The race starts today at 5.25pm and you can watch the race on ITV.

The race of course takes place at Aintree, where it has been held since 1839. So which horse will you be cheering for? Do you study the form or simply pick out a name that sounds lucky to you? Perhaps last year’s winner Tiger Roll will succeed again, but it’s been over 40 years since a horse won the race more than once, and that was the famous Red Rum. That’s the exciting thing about the Grand National, it really could go to anyone. So maybe you’ve put a bet on a long shot, in the hope that it nets you a small fortune at the bookies?
