Not so much a boy band, but now more of a man band, Boyzone have been going for 25 years – can you believe it? But all good things must come to an end, and so the 25th Anniversary and Farewell Arena Tour marks the end of this particular era. The tour visits Belfast’s SSE Arena on January 23rd and is set to be pretty spectacular for all those lucky enough to get tickets as the boys go out on a high note.

From the beginning

It was way back in 1993 that Louis Walsh advertised for Irish musicians to audition for a position in a new band that would rival Take That. With a tour of pubs and clubs across Northern Ireland, it wasn’t long before Boyzone became well known, and the subsequent album and single releases all hit the charts. By the end of the decade, despite their huge success, tensions were growing within the group and a split was inevitable, with several band members pursuing solo careers. However, the band eventually reformed, touring again in 2008. With the sad and sudden death of band member Stephen Gately in 2009, the focus of the group changed, but they didn’t stop performing, releasing an album dedicated to Gately in 2010. Since then they’ve continued to be popular and have a large and dedicated fan base. Their final album Thank You & Goodnight was released late last year.

The tour to end all tours

The band will split for good after their world tour, so catch them now if you are able to as you won’t get the chance again! You’ll certainly be in for a fantastic night, with material from their latest album as well as all the old classics we know and love!
