HomeRegistrationsSee Stereophonics Live at SSE Belfast Jayne Henry March 15, 2018 Registrations Stereophonics are touring the UK and you can see them at the SSE in Belfast on 15th March. The tour promotes their latest album Scream Above The Sounds that was released last year. This is their tenth album since the band formed back in 1992. In the early days they performed at working men’s clubs under the name Tragic Love Company. This was a tribute to their favourite bands. Tragically Hip, Mother Love Bone and Bad Company, but they were forced to change the name when Wayne Coleman was organising concerts for them. He told them that he hated the name and the tour wouldn’t got ahead unless they changed their name to something else! So when they spotted the name of a gramophone manufacturer, Falcon Stereophonic, they thought that would do the trick, and so they became The Stereophonics. They would later drop the ‘the’ from their name and simply become Stereophonics. It’s definitely an improvement on Tragic Love Company!
