It’s Snoop Dogg’s Birthday!

Happy Birthday Snoop! Snoop wasn’t born Snoop Dogg, he’s not the beloved son of Mr and Mrs Dogg, no, he was born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. named after his father, Calvin Cordozar Broadus Sr. Certainly changing your name to Snoop Dogg would make filling out forms much easier! He was nicknamed Snoopy by his parents as they thought he looked like the cartoon dog… how cute!

Snoop has been musical all his life. As a young boy he would sing and play the piano at his local Baptist Church. He got into rapping in sixth grade and after a patch of going off the rails as a teenager and spending three years in and out of prison, he got together with his cousins and friend and started recording music. One of these recordings was heard by Dr Dre, who called him in for an audition and this was the start of his career in music.

It was at this point that he took up the stage name Snoop Doggy Dogg which he later shortened to Snoop Dogg.

• Snoop Dogg and his mother once owned 20 pit bull terriers.
• In 2013 he stated that he smoked 80 cannabis cigarettes a day.
• He owns a CBD based company that has a melange of CBD products, including gummies infused with cbd.
• However, he isn’t breaking the law doing this as he has been prescribed medical cannabis for migraines since 2007.
• Snoop Dogg is a certified football coach.
• He is part of a scheme that gives away turkeys at Christmas to underprivileged families. In 2016 he gave away 3000 turkeys.
• Snoop Dogg supports same-sex marriage.
• He was once banned from entering Norway for two years.
