Irish registrations also look completely different to DVLA registrations due to the combination of numbers and letters. You will always have three letters at the beginning and this will be followed by either 1, 2, 3 or 4 numbers. Irish registrations are not actually from the Irish Republic, this is merely a ‘trade term’. In reality all of these registrations are actually from Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK and can therefore be legally transferred to any UK vehicle.
