HomeRegistration IndustryThe world was very different in 1984 Jayne Henry May 25, 2014 Registration Industry Are you old enough to remember back to 1984, the year when Speedy Reg was born? Let’s set the scene, this is the year of the Ghostbusters film, who you gonna call? Culture Club released Karma Chameleon and Cyndi Lauper told us that Girls Just Want To Have Fun. If you were into computer games, you might have been arguing over whether the Spectrum was better than the Amstrad (Spectrums of course were far better with their rubbery keyboard). 1984 was a good year for films, many that have now become classics such as Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Terminator and The Karate Kid. Back then most of us didn’t have the Internet, we had four channels to watch on TV, we watched films on video and listened to our music on cassette tapes. We didn’t go into town on a Sunday as all the shops were shut. We played with Transformers, Cabbage Patch Kids and tried to solve the Rubik’s Cube. The world has come a long way since then, and so have we. We wonder what will happen over the next 30 years? We’re looking forward to finding out!
