HomeRecent Number Plate NewsSome tips for selling your car Jayne Henry August 27, 2013 Recent Number Plate News, Registration Industry, Registrations Selling a car is something most drivers have to do every now and again. Whether your car is costing you too much in upkeep or you simply want a change, selling a car can be a worry, but don’t panic, it can go smoothly if you go about it the right way. The first thing to do is find out the value of your car. There are plenty of sites online that will give you an estimate of the value. You can also search on Autotrader or eBay for similar cars to see what prices they are being sold for. On eBay you can also look at completed listings. This gives you a better idea of price as you will see exactly what other people have paid for the cars, rather than just a listed price that the owners are hoping to get. If you’re also buying another car, it could be worth looking to see if you’ll get a better deal with a trade in, rather than simply selling your car. Visit some car dealers and get an idea of what they’d give you for trading in your old car. Before you sell, give it a really good clean, inside and out and take some good photos. This is especially important if you’re selling it online as people may be travelling a long way to look at your car so it needs to look desirable. Also when listing it online, be sure to mention all the details, be honest about any faults, and mention how long you have left on the MOT and tax. Have a think about your favourite aspects of your car. Is it the perfect compact size for easy parking? Is it very cheap to run? You can then mention these in your advert. Also don’t forget to put a sign in the car window, you never know who may spot it! Robin Webster [CC-BY-SA-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons
