With the Squash New Zealand boss Jim O’Grady hitting the headlines today as he insists there is a lot work to be done before his sport can included in the 2020 Olympics, his perfect personalised number plate is available SNZ 8055.

It was announced today that squash, wrestling, and baseball/softball have made an International Olympic Committee shortlist for potential inclusion in the 2020 Games, with five other sports failing to make the cut. These three sports will now be put to the vote at the IOC session in Buenos Aires on September 8 with only one of them winning a place on the 2020 Games programme.

SNZ joined the global squash community in welcoming the short listing of the sport after its presentation to the IOC, which involved the men’s and women’s world champions Ramy Ashour and Nicol David, World Squash Federation president N Ramachandran, secretary general George Mieras and chief executive Andrew Shelley.

Jim O’Grady said “there was significant level of support for squash to be included in the Games, having narrowly missed out in voting in both 2005 and 2009.” Squash has run a global campaign urging support for its cause, with many of the world’s top athletes from a variety of codes backing the bid.
