Stolen plates are often used on vehicles by criminals who do not want to be caught when committing a crime such as stealing fuel or if they want to disguise a stolen car. Figures released by West Midlands Police under the Freedom of Information Act show the following amount of number plates were stolen: 3890 in 2008/2009 3718 in 2009/2010 4613 in 2010/2011 TOTAL: 12347 Police have warned motorists to secure their number plates with anti-theft screws, which Speedyreg are offering Free of Charge for anyone that order a set of number plates from them. When your number plate is stolen, it will cost you £20 to replace it, which makes it worthwhile to use antitheft screws.
