HomeRegistration IndustryMistake in Wikipedia on number plates‼ Jayne Henry October 3, 2010 Registration Industry Mistake in Wikipedia , it states incorrect information reference number plates‼ According to Wikipedia, Vehicle registration plates are the mandatory number plates used to display the registration mark of a vehicle, and have existed in the United Kingdom since 1904. Most motor vehicles which are used on public roads are required by law to display them. However under the Northern Ireland section it states “The DVA are considering adopting the seven character system (area code+age identifier+random letters) currently used in Great Britain,[citation needed] using I as the first letter, e.g. IC60 ABC (no confusion could be made with 1 as it would be followed by another letter)” When I contacted the DVA enquires section on Friday and asked them about the above statement I was told “Wikipedia is not 100% accurate and they are not aware for any changes!” There you have it from the “horse’s mouth” there is no change in the pipeline in relation to Northern Ireland Registrations.
